Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Hanoi – Ninh Binh – Tam Coc – Thung Nang Valley

Begin your journey with a morning pick-up from your hotel in Hanoi’s Old Quarter. Enjoy a scenic drive south to Ninh Binh, with a short comfort stop en route in Ha Nam Province.

Upon arrival, cycle through Ninh Hai Village and surrounding countryside, meeting local residents and learning about daily rural life. Admire the stunning scenery of Thung Nang Valley, where lush rice paddies meet dramatic limestone formations.

After checking in at your hotel, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, take a traditional sampan boat trip through Tam Coc, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Drift gently along the river while passing limestone caves, rice fields, and traditional houses. Visit a local family to learn about traditional Vietnamese homes and embroidery techniques.

Day 2: Mua Cave – Trang An – Rural Village – Hoa Lu

After breakfast, visit Mua Cave, one of Ninh Binh’s most spectacular viewpoints. From here, enjoy panoramic views over the surrounding countryside. You may hike to the summit or choose alternative transport options depending on comfort.

Continue to Trang An, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famed for its karst pillars, caves, and waterways. Board a bamboo boat and journey through a series of limestone caves, including Hang Toi (Dark Cave), Sang Cave (Light Cave), and Hang Nau Ruou (Cooking Wine Cave), surrounded by breathtaking scenery.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before heading to Hoa Lu, the ancient capital of Vietnam in the 10th century. Visit the Dinh and Le King Temples, significant historical landmarks recognised as UNESCO Heritage Sites.

Return to your hotel in the late afternoon and enjoy dinner.

Day 3: Bai Dinh Pagoda – Drive Back to Hanoi

After breakfast, check out from your hotel and depart for Trang An before continuing to Bai Dinh Pagoda, the largest pagoda complex in Southeast Asia. Explore this impressive spiritual site, home to a giant golden Buddha statue and more than 5,000 smaller Buddha images. Bai Dinh is an important pilgrimage destination and a remarkable example of Vietnamese Buddhist architecture.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before beginning the drive back to Hanoi. Upon arrival, you will be dropped off at your hotel.
